The Beginners Road to Successful Knitting 3 hours $59.95

Congratulations, you are now beyond the basics of knitting, purling, and excessive scarf making. You have mastered the knit and purl stitch, can make drawers full of scarves and shawls, but you are uneasy about making a real sweater that has to fit because the instructions are intimidating. Let this class be the ramp to knitting success from a seasoned 20 year yarn shop owner, knitwear designer, and teacher.Learn about the language of knitting – the abbreviations, the parentheses, brackets, the asterisks – and manage those confusing “at the same time” directions. Learn how to identify gauge for both stitches and rows and know exactly what to adjust if necessary. Learn fiber facts, choosing size and ease, and how to substitute yarn. Use your new knowledge by practicing a sampling of various shaping directions, stitches, and repeats, which will reinforce your ability to understand directions. Learn about blocking, picking up stitches, and realize that you can make a sweater that fits!

Saturday 10:00 – 1:00

The Absolute Best Way to Learn How to Knit 3 hours $59.95

There’s nothing wrong with American/English knitting, which requires winding the yarn with your right had. You might have learned it years ago. But…do you wish you could knit faster with fewer imperfections? Would you like to be able to seed stitch or rib with a slight turn of the wrist, speedily as if you’ve been doing this for years? In this three hour class, you can begin knitting (or easily switch to) a more ergonomic, faster, and pain reducing method. Practice how to strategically hold the yarn with your left hand and knit and purl with incredible speed and consistency.

For all skill levels. Maximum number of students is 24.

Let blocking & Finishing Sweaters Be The Happy Ending 3 hours $59.95

Finishing sweaters is too often a dreaded task.  Stop the clutter and fear of unfinished projects and eliminate the sense of guilt as you begin the next.  With this occasionally hands-on and empowering class, learn the secrets to sweater finishing.   See the effects of laundering and wear on all fibers to achieve exactly what you expect from hand-knit garments, as you are able to predict change even after wearing. See special ways to block, neatly sew shoulders; pick up stitches at the neck; practice how to begin and sew side, shoulder, and sleeve seams.  See two methods to sew set-in sleeves; and invisibly weave-in tails. What a great feeling it is when you have the knowledge to finish a sweater and have the task be as fun and interesting as knitting it.
